“Singer-songwriter” The single most used hyphenate in music? Probably, and New Zealand’s Marlon Williams nailed the first part of that descriptor at an early age. But it’s the second half of the term, songwriter, that has bedeviled the artist, and into which he has grown exponentially on his second album, Make Way For Love, originally released in February of 2018. It was Marlon Williams like you had never heard him before—exploring new musical terrain and revealing himself in an unprecedented way, in the wake of a fractured relationship.
